Ampthill Literary Festival 2019

The fifth Ampthill Literary Festival, part of Ampthill Festival, will take place on: Saturday 27th April at Parkside Hall, Ampthill.

The morning sessions will include a selection of workshops for adult writers and children’s story telling activities including a session at Ampthill Library for under 9s. Tickets for these events will be limited and will go on sale in the New Year. Keep your eyes on our Facebook page for announcements for further information.

As usual, we are keeping the ticket structure simple. There will be afternoon and evening tickets available. If you wish to attend the whole day, please purchase both afternoon and evening tickets.

The afternoon sessions will have a selection of speakers to suit all tastes: a panel discussion featuring local authors - Adam Croft, Anthony Lowery and Robert Daws; debut author of The Rapture, Claire McGlasson, (publication date June 2019) will share her in depth knowledge of the Panacea Society in Bedford (the setting for her novel);  and the afternoon finale will be Ruth Hogan, returning to the festival by popular demand to share her latest release with us.

This year our evening session will be split by an interval: offering something for everyone as well as plenty of opportunities to have a drink at the bar and share your literary festival experiences with fellow literature lovers.

To open our evening event there will be an exclusive screening of the short film Car Keys along with an interview with the great minds behind this locally made film including the writer, Amy Rich and actors Robert Daws and Linda Armstong.  During the interval our guests will be entertained by The Antipoet and the finale of the festival is an interview with award winning journalist and novelist, Allison Pearson.

The winners of our writing competitions will also be announced during the day (the writing competition opens in January – see our Facebook page in the New Year for more details).

Vintage Be will be returning to AmpLiterary by popular demand. They will be on site throughout the day with their delicious home-made cakes, light snacks and cordials, and there will be prosecco, wine and beer to enjoy between events.

AmpLiterary Bookshop will be on site for your book purchasing needs and all our authors will be signing books after their appearances.
